The Australian International Airshow Avalon Airport Victoria

Every two years, Airshows Downunder organise the Avalon International Airshow, Australia's answer to Oshkosh, but not as big.

There were 2 towers for the 2 adjacent airfields and a remote tower acting as a feeder for the main field. I spent all my time in the main tower servicing Avalon Airport mainly because that was what was appropriate to my current endorsements. It was a lot of fun, working 9 days straight and living in mobile homes onsite. Everyone there was there because they wanted to be and as such, the cameraderie was fantastic. Hopefully, the Global Financial Crisis wont stop the next one in 2011.

Here are a few photos from the event.

The B1 Bomber in flight
Me, in the pink shirt. This was our "uniform" for the airshow, and got us into more places than any of the security cards we had.
The result of a storm on Saturday evening. Some should have tied the planes down a little more securely.

More of the B1. It was an amazing aircraft.
